As Safe Drinking Water Deadlines Loom, Winters' Lead Free Products Have You Covered!
Lead-free instrumentation and infrastructure is top of mind for
American utilities this week, as they scrambled to meet the first major
government deadline for cutting lead from drinking water.
As part of the White House's goal of replacing 100% of lead pipes,
the Environmental Protection Agency gave utilities a deadline of Oct. 16, 2024
to submit comprehensive inventories of how many lead service lines they have.
These inventories will be made publicly available, and utilities will be
required to notify the public if lead levels get dangerously high in drinking
water.
This is the first time there has been a comprehensive effort to
replace all lead pipes in the United States. Similar efforts
to cut lead out of drinking water pipes are underway at the local level in
various parts of Canada.
Currently, the US Safe Drinking Water Act and the National Plumbing Code of Canada set strict standards to keep lead in drinking water below dangerous levels. However, these regulations were aimed mostly at preventing new installations of lead pipes, rather than replacing lead plumbing systems already installed.
For distributors and customers in the business of providing clean
drinking water, Winters' extensive lineup of lead-free products is well
prepared to set you up for success in light of these major legislative changes.
We offer a broad range of lead-free pressure gauges,
thermometers
and accessories
on the market. All of Winters' lead-free instruments are compliant with
the US Safe Water Drinking Act and the National Plumbing Code of Canada. They
are also compliant with the NSF 61 and 371, which are international health
standards for safe water delivery and plumbing.
