INSTRUMENTATION ACCESSORIES

Winters Instruments offers many accessories for pressure gauges that are designed to protect gauges in situations that may be harmful to the gauge (extreme heat, rapidly fluctuating pressure and sudden shock pressures, etc.)

Adjustable Snubber

Significantly lessens the damaging effects of pulsation on pressure gauges, transducers, transmitters and pressure switches. Turning the external adjustment screw will change the amount of orifice restriction.

An adjustable snubber will prolong the life of pressure instruments, especially in demanding industrial applications including pumps, compressors, hydraulic presses or fluid power applications.

Cooling Tower

Designed to protect pressure measuring instruments that are exposed to high process temperature applications. Inside the 316SS body, a spiral capillary provides maximum surface area to allow excess process heat to be radiated off. This degree of cooling is dependent on ambient conditions.

Mini Ball Valve

Provides an economical isolation valve for pressure gauges and transmitters. Both t-handle and lever handle options allow for visual indication of valve position (open or closed). Maximum operating pressure is 400 psi (2,758 kPa). Suitable for non-corrosive applications.

Needle Valve

Provides an economical solution to isolate or control flow to pressure instruments. Maximum operating pressure is 400 psi (2,758 kPa). Suitable for non-corrosive applications.

Over-Pressure Protector

Utilized to protect pressure instruments against surges and pulsations. At a preset pressure point, (adjusted by an external screw and lock nut) the over pressure protector automatically shuts off the pressure to the instrument, preventing damage and protecting calibration.

Used in heavy industrial applications such as oil and gas, protection of pipelines from idle run, refineries, petrochemical (steam cleaning operations measuring backwash) and other applications requiring preset points.

Snubber

Significantly reduces pulsation effects for pressure instruments installed in close proximity to pumps, compressors, hydraulics presses or fluid power applications in general. Available in three standard process medium viscosity classifications: heavy oil, water, air.

Stainless Steel Needle Valve

Provides precision flow featuring slow-opening which prevents sudden pressure surges (instrument damage). These needle valves are suitable for corrosive environments with pressures up to 10,000 psi. They can be utilized as an economical adjustable throttling device for pressure gauges.

Common applications include refineries, liquid petroleum gas and processing plant systems where shutdown due to solid waste such as dust, rust, dirt, etc. is to be avoided.

Syphon

Provides heat reduction in applications where high temperature vapours or fluids are present. The syphon is fitted between the pressure gauge and the process, and acts as a cooling coil. Available in steel and brass for non-corrosive applications and stainless steel for corrosive applications.

Test Plug

Facilitates quick pressure and temperature readings and eliminates the need for leaving expensive pressure gauges or temperature indicators on the line. The plug is permanently installed on the line at recommended test points. Readings are taken by inserting the gauge adapter with a fitted pressure gauge into the test plug.

Note: When selecting pressure accessories, always refer to ASME B40.100 (2013), ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, ASME B16.34 and ANSI MSS SP-99
